With Labor Day passed summer is over. For me that means back to school, my senior year and a single goal - dress like I belong at Fashion Week. But obviously, the biggest trends of fall need to be adapted to fit the budget of senior and the demographic of high school hallways. Here's some of my favorite, affordable pieces of the biggest trends, inspired by my fashion friend Carrie Berk, author of the Carrie Chronicles, based on her story on www.indyeastend.com.
Trend 1 - Animal Print
Since fashion week, last fall an abundance of animal print has spread from runaway to social media to street. Cheetah and snake-skin are very much the new black, its a simple pattern that can be pulled off by any body type of skin tone and the pattern adds a bold pop and edge to any look. The pattern is also super versatile and can be used in accent like belts, hats, or shoes, in addition to clothing like sweaters, dresses, and skirts.
Trend 2 - Cozy Fabrics
ITS SWEATER WEATHER! As a lover of fall, I have waited all summer to break out the cozy warm pieces in my wardrobe. After the popularity of the teddy coat last fall season, fuzzy fabrics, like sherpa and fleece are incredibly popular. These kinds of fabrics are perfect for Friday night football games, pumpkin picking and corn mazes and the chill of mid-October.
Trend 3 - Printed Tees
Everyone loves a printed tee, especially on early school mornings. They are easily paired with a pair of jeans, a fun skirt or some animal printed bottoms. For a comfy fall look throw a coordinating flannel over your tee tucking the tee into the waist of your jeans. Oversized tees are comfy and pair well with every fall outfit. This is a perfect time for thrifting, whether in an actual store or your dad's closet.
